For this week's episode, Arshan took a trip to LA to interview one of hip hop's most sought after creative directors, Opium Baby. Jay, or Opium Baby came up by acting & moving his family to LA off gigs like Nike Commerical and Disney shows, but slowly realized that wasn't his passion. It started to get corny for him so he spent a lot of time on Fairfax with creatives like John Ross, and ended up getting heavily involved in that scene -- meeting artists like Playboi Carti, ASAP Rocky, & skipping school to attend events like Yeezy Season. Opium Baby ended up doing a bunch of cool projects like working on Whole Lotta Red (produced F33l Like Dying, had a role in the album cover, etc), directing music videos for artists like Destroy Lonely & Ken Carson (MDMA), but more importantly, his own brand, "Saint Peter's Showroom". He talks about how he likes to create short films for each drop, and how his recent ComplexCon with John Ross featured an entire boxing ring. Opium Baby also talks about the fashion sense of the Opium Group (Ken Carson, Playboi Carti, Homixide Gang) is inspired by eastern Europe, and it's not this corny hot topic aesthetic. He talks about how much intent he has behind his brand, and doesn't like "Instagram Clothes". There's a ton of cool moments in this interview -- Opium Baby even helped write Kid Cudi's verse on M3tamorphosis. Just a ton of gems and inspiration. Enjoy.
