Описание к видео Top 10 most massive stars in the Universe | R136a1

The top 10 most massive stars in the known universe are as follows:
1. R136a1 - 315 solar mass
2. R136c - 230 solar mass
3. Melnick 42 - 189 solar mass
4. Melnick 34 - 179 solar mass
5. HD 269810 - 130 solar mass
6. Peony star - 100 solar mass
7. Arches-F15 - 90 solar mass
8. V429 Carinae A - 78 solar mass
9. Plaskett's star B - 56 solar mass
10. ρ Cassiopeiae - 40 solar mass

Here, the comparison is made regarding their MASS, not size.

R136a1 is the most massive star known to exist. It is located in the center of the cluster R136. The cluster is located in Tarantula Nebula, an intense starburst region, in Large Magellanic Cloud. LMC is a dwarf irregular galaxy, and also a satellite galaxy orbiting the Milky Way.

R136a1 is a Wolf-Rayet star, having a mass of 315 solar mass.
It has a luminosity of 8.7 million solar luminosity.
It has a surface temperature of about 53,000 K, and is hence one of the hottest star known to exist.
