A trekking montage of my 2 day hike up Mount Olympus and The Evil Staircase in Greece; summiting Skala Peak on the first evening and the highest peak called Mytikas at 2918m the next morning.

In this multi day hiking video you will see some beautiful mountain scenery from The Mount Olympus National Park, accompanied by some sweet music and you'll get to see what the mythical home of the Greek Gods looks like in real life.

This was originally meant to be a solo hike, but as it happens I met a fellow trekker at the hostel I was staying at (Summit Zero Hostel), who accompanied me up the mountain. We did this hike over 2 days, summitting Skala Peak on the first evening, which offered great views of Mighty Mytikas and of the sunset behind Skolio Peak. Then we stumbled back down to stay the night at Spilios Agapitos or Refuge A, which offers cheap food and accomodation for hikers. The next morning it was time for the main trekking event as we set off before sunrise to climb The Evil Staircase and to finally summit Mytikas. Tea time with Zeus!

Of course, for mere mortals an adventure to the home of the Gods would be no easy feat though. The Evil Staircase on the way up Mytikas did not get it's name for nothing and has quite a sinister reputation for claiming a number of lives each year. Sadly we heard that someone had lost their life just a day before we started our own ascent, which is a bit of daunting thing to hear before embarking on such trekking expeditions. This section is doable enough if one keeps theirs wits about them, but one wrong move and you may very well fall right down to Hades!

I had to put away my camera for the most dangerous and challenging sections of the climb, but at least I am alive to tell the tale. Thankfully, we got to the top of the mountain with no mishaps and managed to safely navigate our way down another gnarly crevice as the sun came out in it's full splendor! From there we exlored the Muse's plateua and Christos Kakkalos or Refuge C, before finally making our way down the mountain and back into the mortal realm.

All in all, I'd rate this as one of the most stunning hikes I have been on and if you don't mind the dangers of The Evil Staircase I'd highly recommend paying ol' Zeus and his homies a visit.
