Virtual Aviation Career Mode | Starting A New Career in NeoFly

Welcome to my new virtual aviation career mode series using Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, NeoFly and BeyondATC. Today we are starting a new career in NeoFly. Our MSFS 2020 NeoFly career Episode 1 will be a recorded episode, but most of this Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 career mode series will be virtual aviation live episodes.

After the disaster ending of my first Neofly career this past week (link to that very short playlist below), I decided to switch gears and move away from the Cessna 152 and Cessna 172 G1000 Skyhawk starting aircraft and invest in the TL Ultralight Sting S4 for my first aircraft in NeoFly. Although I am sacrificing some payload capacity by using the Sting S4 in my NeoFly career, I think it is much easier to learn how to fly and land the Sting S4 over the Cessna 172 G1000.

I have owned the Sting S4 for about 24 hours now and took it on a very quick test flight last night and did some pattern work and touch and go landings at my home airport of Shelbyville-Bomar (KSYI) in Shelbyville, TN. The Sting S4 is a very nice aircraft to learn and to fly. It features a side-stick (Thrustmaster Warthog stick enters the chat) and not a flight yoke. I believe I was having some calibration issues with my Saitek Yoke, so I wanted to pivot away from that (but it will be back in future aircraft). The navigation system is also intuitive and makes more sense to me than the G1000 in the Cessna 172 Skyhawk.

Late on Saturday June 22nd, I completed my first official flight of my new NeoFly career in the Sting S4. I braved a GPS night flight and visual approach and took two cargo assignments from KSYI (Shelbyville, TN) to KMQY (Smyrna, TN) and made about $7000.

This is Episode 1 of my new MSFS 2020 NeoFly Career. This episode was recorded on the morning of Sunday June 23rd. We flew a very quick hop from KMQY (Smyrna, TN) up to KXNX (Gallatin, TN) with two more cargo assignments, making about $2,200. I also used the NeoFly Marketplace to maximize the remaining payload and we made almost $2000 by buying/delivering/selling goods between the locations. As a stipulation of the cargo on board, I had to keep the landing rate under -200fpm in order to not destroy the cargo. Check out the end of the video to see if I made it.

Debrief:
I am excited for this new series. I am still a little hard on the rudder on take-offs and probably do not use them enough on landing. The landing went a little long (and likely out of the touchdown zone), but I had plenty of runway present and it ended up registering as one of my best landings yet.
