VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Greetings all! In this video we take a ride on board Long Island Railroad Babylon Branch train #6257 en route to Grand Central Madison from Babylon. The Babylon Branch is a rail service operated by LIRR and runs between Grand Central or New York Penn Station to Babylon. During peak hours only, some trains start and terminate at Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn. The term "Babylon Branch" is referred to trains serving the Montauk Branch stations between Valley Stream and Babylon, meaning that the Babylon Branch isn't its own track, but rather a rail service. Electrification of the branch ends at Babylon and diesel trains continue to points east. The Long Island Railroad Montauk Branch runs throughout Long Island in its entirety and is 115 miles (185 kilometers) long. During peak hours, Montauk Branch trains operate between New York Penn Station and Speonk, the Hamptons and Montauk. Direct inbound service to NYC is available during the AM peak hours and direct outbound service from NYC during the PM peak hours.
