I recently participated in a swim-run event called the Torpedo Cape in Cape Town. It included 12 kilometres of running and 4km of swimming. I've been loving ocean swimming for a while now. When I saw this event, I knew it was perfect because it combined my love of swimming and running.

The event involved off-road trail running and swimming through the kelp in the ocean, and it was an incredible experience. I signed up with a buddy of mine and we completed it last week (Nov 20th, 2022).

I have a long history of running, but I used to struggle to get into it. A few years back, I even filmed myself running to document my journey, but I could never really make it a habit. Recently, though, I've managed to turn running into a habit and have even done 3K, 5K, 7K, and 8K runs. It feels great to have built up that habit and to actually enjoy running now.

One thing that really helped me was finding an exercise buddy and being part of an exercise group. That motivated me to keep going with my swimming and also start running. In March of this year, I had spinal surgery. Fortunately, I was able to make a full recovery and maintain my swimming fitness while also adding running to my routine. I'm excited about the progress I've made and plan to do more running in the future.
