TROUBADOURS
The Troubadours formed in Barbados, some time in the mid 1960s. They rose to fame locally when they backed Barbadian born Jackie Opel - an early star of Jamaican Ska - on his return from Jamaica. It is likely that Opel's collaboration with the band led to the development of Spouge, although it is often Opel alone who is credited with the genre's invention.
