Draupadi Murmu Biography – After much wait, the ruling NDA announced its 2022 Presidential candidate. After convening a meeting with BJP’s senior leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Draupadi Murmu was announced as BJP’s Presidential candidate. The Presidential elections will take place on 18th July 2022.
If elected, Draupadi Murmu will be India’s second woman and first tribal President. Born in Mayurbhanj in Odisha, she has had a long career in politics. She joined Bharatiya Janta Party in 1997 and since then has held various important positions.
Draupadi Murmu was born on 20th June 1958 to Biranchi Narayan Tudu in Mayurbhanj district in Odisha. Her father and grandfather have been village headmen under the Panchayati Raj System.
Draupadi Murmu started her career as a teacher but changed her tracks to become a politician. In 1997, she was elected as the councilor of Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat.
The Presidential candidate was appointed as the Vice-President of BJP’s Scheduled Tribes Morcha.
She was also elected as an MLA twice in 2000 and 2004 from Rairangpur Assembly constituency. During her tenure under the BJP-BJD alliance government, she served as Minister of Commerce and Transport (2000-2002) and Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (2002-2004).
She was also conferred with the Nilkantha Award by the Odisha Legislative Assembly for being the Best MLA in 2007.
She later served as the 9th Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021. She was the first woman Governor of Jharkhand and the first female tribal leader from Odisha to be appointed as a Governor.
Earlier in 2017, Draupadi Murmu was considered for Presidential candidacy but later on, current President Ram Nath Kovind was selected. However, the BJP Parliamentary Body has
nominated her name for the upcoming Presidential Elections.
Meanwhile, the opposition has announced Yashwant Sinha as their Presidential candidate. Ram Nath Kovind’s Presidency will end on 24th July 2022. Presidential Elections will take place on 18th July 2022. The election counting will take place on 21st July 2022.

हाल ही में भारतीय जनता पार्टी तथा एनडीए समर्थन द्वारा द्रोपदी मुर्मू को भारत के अगले राष्ट्रपति उम्मीदवार हेतु नाम उजागर किया गया है | द्रोपदी मुर्मू का जन्म वर्ष 1958 में उड़ीसा राज्य के “मयूरभंज” इलाके में 20 जून 1958 में हुआ था | तथा यह आदिवासी समुदाय से जुड़ी हुई हुई चर्चित नेताओं में से एक हैं |
