Thousands of students and lecturers will stage a rally in London on Wednesday against plans to almost treble tuition fees.

In the US, university students are used to pay high tuition fees for access to top private schools.

In New York, one private college charges a yearly tuition fee of $40,000 whereas a similar degree in a partially publicly funded senior college costs between $3,000 and $6,000.

Four students share their views on the financial burden of studying in the US and its implications in their future careers.

Semi-public and publicly funded institutions remain relatively affordable for lower income students who usually still need to work to pay for tuition, fees and living costs.

However, the sometimes subjective reputation of these schools can turn key for getting a top of the ladder job or even just an internship after graduation.
