With his blistering pace Pieter Hendriks wrote his name across Springbok history by rounding the famous David Campese to score South Africa’s first ever try at a Rugby World Cup. Just two games later Pieter was banned for 90 days after a fight broke out against Canada. Before that he made his debut against the All Blacks upon the Boks’ return to international rugby. In this exclusive interview Pieter shares never-before-heard stories about the behind the scenes quarrels that marred the dawn of professionalism. He says the home series defeat to New Zealand was inevitable given the unprofessional manner the administrators were dealing with the players.
