Candidate meetings, political hoardings, pocket statements in the local paper and candidate websites seldom give voters the sort of detailed information required to make a judgement about who to vote for. In this series of interviews Andrew Johnstone gets up close and personal with the 3 candidates vying for the Waipā Mayoralty to find out who the candidates are, what they stand for and what they envisage for the future of the district.

Waipā District is a municipality in the Waikato region of New Zealand that is administered by the Waipā District Council. Its most populous town is Cambridge. The seat of the council is at the second most populous town, Te Awamutu. The district is south and south-east of the city of Hamilton.
