As believers, we find ourselves in a world where sin and the devil constantly seek to draw us away from God’s path but the Word of God is clear to us, we must not only resist sin but actively flee from it.

One powerful example of fleeing from sin is found in the story of Joseph. In Genesis 39, Joseph, a young man of integrity, was serving in the house of Potiphar, an Egyptian officer. Potiphar’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph and attempted to seduce him. But Joseph, recognizing the grave danger of this temptation, did not linger or try to reason with her. Instead, he fled. The Bible says, "He left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house" (Genesis 39:12).

In stark contrast, we see what happens when one does not flee from the devil. In the Garden of Eden, Eve encountered the serpent, who was more cunning than any other creature. The serpent, representing the devil, began to question God’s command, planting seeds of doubt in Eve’s mind. Instead of fleeing from this deception, Eve lingered, listened, and ultimately gave in to the temptation (Genesis 3:1-6). Her failure to flee led to the fall of mankind and introduced sin into the world.

Apostle Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." This means that sin often comes disguised, appearing harmless or even good, but its end is destruction.
