Tips for Replacing Motor Mount on F30 BMW 328i

Описание к видео Tips for Replacing Motor Mount on F30 BMW 328i

In this video, I talk about a few tips that were helpful for me to replace a slightly worn passenger-side motor mount of a 2013 F30 BMW 328i with the N26/N20 motor.

I mention using a scissor jack to slightly lift the engine off of the passenger motor mount. I borrowed this scissor jack from another vehicle (2012 Nissan Quest). I also used a piece of 2x4 between the jack and engine block. Loctite was applied to all bolts reused. You may opt to use new bolts since these are stretch to yield relatively soft bolts. There will be no standard torque values if reusing torque-to-yield bolts.

Brand: Corteco (OEM supplier)
BMW part #: 22116855456 (passenger side, RH)

Common symptoms of worn motor mount:
engine visibly moves or shakes; especially when shifting between gears or pushed firmly with your hand
increased vibrations and/or engine noises in the cabin
reduced gap between the engine mount bracket and engine mount
clunk when lifting off the gas pedal
reduced throttle response

*Do this at your own risk!

Although the scissor jack is only lifting the motor ~1 inch, at some point the passenger motor mount will be removed in order to install the new mount.

Fortunately, the scissor jack should not have any significant side load and the subframe will not be loosened. In addition, it is usually a good idea to give the vehicle a good push in a few directions to ensure that nothing shifts, before getting underneath. Jack-stands are a must!

I hope this video helps someone!
