Hello, this is John from Zoom and I am here to give you a brief overview of our new all-in-one production and live performance instrument, the ARQ AR-48. In this video, I will be explaining the basic features of the AR-48 and how to get started.
The AR-48 consists of two parts: the base station and the ring controller.
The base station is the heart of the AR-48. It comes with over 450 drum and instrument sounds which can be customized by adjusting effects, filter, frequency, pitch, and other parameters. You can load up to 2GB of your own original samples using an SD card.
The second element is the ring controller. A 16-pad detachable LED-lit ring that communicates with the base station, or your computer’s recording software, through USB or through Bluetooth using the BTA-1 adapter. The ring controller can be used as a MIDI controller and step sequencer, and can even trigger songs, samples, or clips. The ring features a 3-axis accelerometer, which can be used to manipulate the effects parameters like delay, reverb, and filters through movement.
With the AR-48’s 32-step loop sequencer, you can easily visualize and create patterns and songs. The Ring Controller lets you layer instruments, patterns, or entire song segments on a single pad and perform in real time. You can also control instrument volume, soloing, and muting with AR-48’s built-in mixer.
There's also a fully-editable Arpeggiator which can be used to make an instrument play automatically when triggered by a pad. AR-48 has six different arpeggiator styles including up, down, sequence, random, and more.
For live performance, you can play the AR-48 as an instrument, triggering one-shot samples, loops, add new elements via step sequencer, or finger drumming. Record your performance to create a new pattern from scratch or overdub on an existing pattern.
Assign your customized patterns to the sample pads to quickly swap between loops, or build and record an entire song pattern-by-pattern.
The AR-48 has a MIDI output which can be connected to a computer or synthesizer to send MIDI messages from the AR-48 keys, knobs, and sequences.
