1982 Fender "The Strat" in Candy Apple Red

Yo!! What's up, dudes?!? Grab some popcorn....this is a long-play video. haha It's a quick 39mins.

Well, I finally closed the deal on a 1982 Fender Strat in Candy Apple Red. This is almost like the guitar that I owned back from '81-'84. My old one was an '81, so the tuners were chrome, the string trees were chrome, the Fender logo was silver and the blade switch tip was white plastic. In '82 (the final year of the short-lived series) the Strat finally got the gold tuners, gold string trees, gold logo and gold blade switch tip. The bridge, knobs and blade tip are all gold plated brass. With 100 microns of gold plating (the same as top-of-the-line gold jewelry) and complex wiring for the A/B switching system, it's been rumored for years that Fender lost money on every guitar sold. It came originally in two colors, Candy Apple Red and Lake Placid Blue, but in '82 several additional colors were produced (mostly custom orders), including Arctic White, Candy Apple Green, Sapphire Blue, natural Walnut (all walnut construction, even the neck!) and even a black and Stratoburst colors.

It's very rare to find these 30+ years later in good condition, let alone all stock. This one is completely stock (other than the trem bar) and is in great shape. The electronics were completely intact, too, including the X-1 bridge pickup and the A/B switching system. Those are ripped out on a regular basis, so to find one all stock is unbelievable.

I'm running through Guitar Rig 5. I'm using the Tweedman Country patch to start and then check out a couple of Plexi patches and finish with the Van51 amp.

Enjoy!
