The game follows the tragic journey of Wyatt Heyll, a young man who has been afflicted with numerous ailments and diseases since childhood. On the brink of death, Wyatt's parents administer a paranormal substance known as the Sorrowvirus. This virus contaminates the human soul, preventing it from passing on to the afterlife and instead trapping the individual in Purgatory, where they can seemingly heal and return to life. However, with each return, Wyatt's illnesses recur more rapidly, driving him to a point where he simply wishes to find release from his torment. His parents, consumed by their research into "organic particles" found in Purgatory, continuously subject him to this cycle in hopes of finding a permanent cure.
