Here's a silent reel of dailies/rushes (things they were able to film in a day) of The Muppet Christmas Carol from mid-June and July of 1992! These are all the final shots and angles they chose to use, before color grading and cropping. There are some great little things here to appreciate- little drawings and messages on clapboards, fun antics puppeteers get into once their line is over, and hey, what's up with that one character's hands? It's neat stuff! And for you technical nerds, this open matte transfer makes the theatrical crop look like a pan-and-scan!

Firstly, let me thank FT Depot for scanning and restoring this film out of my collection! In open matte! You guys are truly great. Sorry I kept bugging you about the aspect ratio.

Secondly, let's talk about this audio track. The original reel had no sound, since the movie's audio was recorded separately, so to make up for the discomforting silence, I scavenged the world for some good MCC instrumentals, and when I say the world here, I mean the second page of Google. So, this is really just some songs extracted from the Blu-ray's horrible 5.1 audio mix (which is why you may hear vocals and ambience here and there), along with some of the 2002 DVD menu's background music. DVD menus come in clutch. And yes, I absolutely did make sure the entire track revolved around the single moment that the "Chills you to the bone" line syncs up.

Also, let's address- how did I even get this? How did such a revealing reel escape Disney's grasp? Listen. eBay is a goldmine. That's why you should always leave the Muppet film reels alone so I can buy them and digitize them.

Anywho, happy holidays! Even though I'm super early!
