Growth of Azolla filiculoides and a subsequent infection over approximately three months. Compact growth like seen here is not typical for Azolla and may be a result of lighting quality (IKEA growing light LED1506R10; an 800lm lamp at ~30cm distance of the plant).

Notice the Azolla roots swinging around like grapevines tangling up. Presumably, this behaviour helps the plants forming dense mats in a more natural situation.

Glass rods are meant to keep the initially small Azolla plant in place during the timelapse.

Plants growing out of the focal plane are annoying, I'm now developing a script to automatically focus-bracket my exposures and focus-stack these into one image to use for time-lapse rendering: @d/focus_stacked_timelapse
