A strong earthquake measuring 6.5 magnitude struck southern and central Mexico on Friday, leaving at least two people dead and causing widespread damage. Over 500 aftershocks have been reported, along with multiple landslides, according to the state civil defense agency. Authorities said a 50-year-old woman in a small community near the epicenter died when her house collapsed. Hospitals in the area also suffered structural damage, forcing the evacuation of patients. Residents and tourists in Mexico City and nearby areas experienced strong shaking, with reports of panic and injuries. Local officials confirmed the death toll at two.
