I'm an electronics tech, but know less than nothing about RC cars, so I'm hoping this is one of those "Slap the forehead, just do "this" to fix it" moments that you smart Redditors might help with.

I recently got an "Acammzar" Model AT2 off-road RC vehicle for next to nothing at an Amazon Returns sale - As expected, it doesn't exactly "work" correctly. I can get about 5-10 seconds of motion (steering, forward, reverse) immediately after turning the power switch on. Immediately after powering the car on, but only for about 5-10 seconds, everything appears normal.

Then, the motor/steering servo just die. It has flashing lights and blue LED strips on the bottom that keep flashing, even after the vehicle is no longer mobile.

On the controller under the power button, there are two LEDs, a flashing green one that turns off as soon as power on the car is turned on (I assume that's a "connected" indicator, and a blue power LED on the remote that remains on.

This really seems like a cool little "starter RC Vehicle" and I'd love to get it working properly (e.g. have it run for longer that 5 seconds before quitting.) I have no problem digging into electronics, I have a decent electronics bench with plenty of test equipment, but I'm not sure where to start. (I'm a 'needs a schematic' kinda tech...)

Is there anything obvious/common failures with this type of RC vehicle that I could look at? I thought that maybe asking here could save me a few hours of mucking around where I probably don't belong.
Any suggestions?
