@chinatownlondon is getting ready for Chinese New Year to celebrate the year of the rabbit in London.

The celebration is this Sunday 22nd Jan where you get to explore variety of street food, stalls that sells Chinese traditional souvenirs to fun things to do I.e Chinese calligraphy. Chinatown will be extremely busy, esp people will be queuing to dine in restaurants aswell as seeing shows in Trafalgar Square and the lion dance parade.

🍜8️⃣ Traditional dishes to eat for CNY👇

1️⃣. Dumplings - staple of Chinese cuisine, are associated with wealthiness.
2️⃣. Spring Rolls - this dish as a carrier of prosperity.
3️⃣. Niangao (glutinous rice flour - rice cake - sweet treat)- Nian Gao is accompanied by the phrase “Getting higher year after year by year,” meaning a general improvement in life.
4️⃣. Sweet Rice Balls - reunion and being together.
5️⃣. Noodles symbolize longevity
6️⃣. Fish - Eating the fish is accompanied by the popular saying, May you always have more than you need!
7️⃣. Steamed Chicken another symbol of the family.
8️⃣. fruit and veg
-Bamboo shoots: represent longevity;
-Poria mushrooms: represent blessings and fortune.
. Muskmelon and grapefruit: represent family.
Seaweed: represents wealth and fortune.
