Annual Pediatric AIDS/HIV Fall Fundraiser to Spotlight Talented, Local DC Youth.

The transmission and spread of HIV has created a health care crisis in our nations capitol. While prevention programs play an important role in reducing this epidemic, stakeholders and advocates must also consider those already living with the disease. Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care is the only organization in the District dedicated to working with infected young people and their families. With the availability of new, affordable treatments, people with HIV/AIDS are living healthier and longer lives; for infected children and adolescents this has created a whole new set of challenges, as well as opportunities. Navigating adolescence is difficult enough, but for children living with HIV/AIDS, it can often seem unbearable. Through programs in the creative arts; individual, family and group counseling, family support and case management, summer camps, and recreation activities, Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care supports the needs of children and their families living with the disease.
