Spencer Matthews is telling me about his first date with his now-wife Vogue Williams – an eventful night by anyone’s reckoning.

“I’d just won The Jump (the wintersports-themed reality series that the pair met on in 2017), and I had a cowbell, which was the trophy, which I filled with whiskey. I lost my phone and my wallet along the way and I woke up with the cowbell [pressed] on my neck,” he recalls. “I flew home [from Austria] and we went to dinner at Rocca.

“I might have told you that I loved you on that date.”

Williams gives him a sceptical look. “I don’t remember that. Maybe it was our first date.”

“When you know, you know,” Matthews affirms. “Straight up, but we had spent a fair amount of time together [by then].”
