Emerald Ballet Theatre aspires to challenge, celebrate, and inspire, setting the standard for dance performance on the Eastside and beyond. Founded in 2007 and led by former Bolshoi ballerina Viktoria Titova, the company repertoire combines timeless classics with original choreographic works. Character dance is the use of traditional folk or national dance in a stylized manner for specific use in the ballet. Emerald Ballet Academy students learn character dance as an integral part of their ballet training and perform dances from various regions including Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Italy, Spain, and Greece. Dances include the mazurka, tarantella, flamenco, Zorba, etc.
