On 1st February 2024, Women in Research Ireland hosted an online discussion about the upcoming referenda in Ireland on care and the family. Our first spaker was Associate Professor Laura Cahillane (School of Law, University of Limerick). Laura's research interests lie in the areas of constitutional law, legal history and judicial studies. She has authored a number of books and has published her research in high-ranking national and international journals. Laura is a frequent contributor to the media on legal and constitutional issues and has advised the Oireachtas on law reform on a number of occasions. Her work has been cited several times in the Dáil and the Seanad, by the Irish superior Courts and UK parliamentary briefings, among others. Laura is editor-in-chief of the Irish Judicial Studies Journal.

Our second speaker was Rachel Coyle, Head of Campaigns and Mobilisations at the National Women’s Council. Rachel is a trade unionist, a community and political activist and has over seven years of experience in inspiring activism and campaigns.
