In today’s ‘Curiosity’ video, PhD student Olivia Flynn and postdoctoral researcher Dr. Jontana Allkja from the National Biofilms Innovation Centre at the ‪@LivUni‬’s Open Innovation Hub for Antimicrobial Surfaces, team up to tell us what they’re curious about, and the really exciting part of science - failure.

Both had childhood questions about the way the world around them worked, from the sky to their toys. Now they work with bacteria and are curious about how they communicate.

Not being scared of things going wrong is the key to scientific research, Olivia said.

“Failure is a massive part of science, but that’s the interesting part because then you get to look into why.”
