Hello everyone!

We brought the iPhone 16 Pro along for a quick weekend getaway to Point Reyes, a spot that always seems to inspire us. And yeah, this trip is definitely one for the memory books.

It was the perfect excuse to see what the iPhone 16 Pro could do. Honestly, I’ve said this a million times, but I’m really not into lugging around big, bulky camera gear. If I can, I’ll leave most of it behind and just grab the simplest setup possible. If you’ve followed my channel for a while, you’ve probably noticed that some of my favorite videos were made with just one camera and one lens. It’s all about keeping it light and letting creativity flow.

It is liberating to carry nothing other than a tripod if possible a mini tripod. No extra batteries to charge, no memory cards to worry about, no camera bag. Whenever I am only using a phone to film, I learn a lot more than a regular camera. It pushes me to try things I never even bother filming.

For example, this video is kind of a mini Vlog. There are so many scenes I would never even bother taking my regular camera out to shoot. iPhone gave me freedom to film whenever I see something interesting. It is so raw and real, I am having a hard time picking up my R6 since I got the new iPhone 16 Pro.

I see a lot of people arguing about the quality of phones vs real cameras. I do not understand this comparison frenzy going on. They are completely different tools. In my opinion image quality gap between iPhone and most cameras is getting smaller each year. We are not there and I don't think we will be at the same level of image quality as a decent camera anytime soon. But, I really don't know why people are so obsessed about comparing. They are different tools. There are differences in many professional cameras as well. It would also be silly to compare my Canon R6 with an Arri Alexa Mini. Again, they are different tools.

Just use whatever you feel comfortable with. Enjoy creating and switch to a different system whenever it is necessary.

Being able to use Apple Log on my Phone still sounds crazy. It is an incredible Log Curve on a tiny sensor. I really hope one day Apple will release a bigger sensor camera/phone. I would get it immediately.

This time I used Moment Pro Camera app due to Image stabilization issues with Black Magic Camera app I mentioned on the previous video. Moment app has way less customization options. It took me some time to get used to but it worked great. I relied on Histogram and zebras most of the time. Another change was not using ProRes LT. This time I used higher bit rate ProRes, not HQ.
I had the SanDisk SSD with me but didn't need to use it since I had enough memory on the phone.

I went for a washed out vintage film look this time. Everything seemed very nostalgic. I really enjoy using Dehancer Pro with Apple Log. Another note, shadow recovery is really good for Apple Log.
Edited on Davinci Resolve using Dehancer Pro.

I just wanted to share this video since most people won't be using their iPhones for professional stuff. It is for documenting life, capturing memories with minimal friction. It might be inspiring for beginners or whoever wants to create some travel videos with their phones.

Let me know what you think!
