In today's video Bindu is going to decode the T of CTM for you. That's right - TONER - which seems to be a product that still confuses some of you out there. Chances are that just because you don't quite understand what a toner does, you skip this step.
But let us assure you, this is NOT something you want to do.

WHAT IS A TONER?
Toners are designed to be used after you cleanse or wash your face. They are supposed to remove any cleanser residue or any thing that the cleanser was not able to fully remove from your skin.

Toners also contain certain ingredients that prep your skin and make it ready to absorb whatever else you may wish to apply - like a serum or moisturiser for example. Toners are generally quite fluid with a watery consistency. They can be clear or with a slight tinge of colour depending on the ingredients.

HOW DO I USE A TONER?
After washing your face, apply a dash of toner on a clean cotton pad and gently sweep across your face. If you use floral waters as a toner, you can also follow up with a spritz after cleansing.
Do NOT wash your face after using a toner.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT TONER?
Toner is chosen as per skin type.
If you have normal to combination skin, look for a mild and gentle toner that helps to prep and refresh the skin.

If you have oily skin, the best toner for you would be something that is more astringent. Look for ingredients like witch hazel, or AHA or salicylic acid.

Dry skins demand moisture and hydration. Always read the ingredients and avoid anything with alcohol in it as this will further dry out and irritate your skin. Rose Water Toners and other floral waters are perfect for dry skin.

SO IS A TONER REALLY NECESSARY?
We definitely think so and would recommend that you add it to your daily skincare routine and see the difference it can make to your skin.
