Orchid Bee | Wildlife Wednesday | Broward Parks

Описание к видео Orchid Bee | Wildlife Wednesday | Broward Parks

Orchid bees aren’t your typical bees. They are bright green metallic color that is sure to catch your eye. They live in tropical climates like the forests of Mexico and Brazil, but recently have developed an established population in Broward County. They have a long tongue which is usually twice the length of their bodies and also have less hairs than other bees. They can also be bright blue, red, purple, gold or a mixture of all the colors. The bee visits orchids and other scented flowers and pollinates them. It also holds on to the scent to attract mates, scientists say.
