A Tribute to Jim Nolan, Conagee, Cavan, Ireland

Jim Nolan led walks in the shadow of Cuilcagh mountain in County Cavan, Ireland, during the Cathal but Festival in Blacklion, Cavan. This video commemorates the Gowlan walk that Jim led for many years. In the video, I re-visit some of the places in the walk. Jim will no longer lead this tour as he has a motor-neuron disease that makes movement difficult. Jim is a major figure in this area. He made many archeological discoveries at the Cavan Burren, which also is in the shadow of Cuilcagh. He discovered and identified remains of prehistoric homes, stone enclosures for livestock, megalithic tombs, and rock art. People began living in the Burren more than 5000 years ago. The Burren is of remarkable historical interest.
