Jaddih Hill Madura (Wisata Bukit Jaddih) is a rather undiscovered jewel located on a tiny island just off the coast of Surabaya. It is an active limestone mine with the exhausted part of the mine being slowly turned into a tourist attraction. Given Surabaya is not a tourist spot by any means, very few foreign tourists know this place. Flora and I may have turned out to be two rare foreigners who showed up at this place (I found this place completely by accident as I was looking for things to do during my breakfast.) Since the Grab cost was nominal, Flora and I decided to take a chance to check it out. It was an hour drive from our hotel and the cost of just $6.50 one way). The road leading to the site was very bumpy. We were not sure what we would end up seeing. At one point, we almost wanted to abandon the visit. But, we were so glad we made it to the site. There, we got even luckier. When we got out of our car, we were approached by a young man who appeared to want to be our guide. Not knowing what to expect, we simply followed him - Speaking of being brave, we definitely were as there were no other tourists around. As he showed us the place step by step and guided us to where we could take better photos, we began to learn more about this very talented young man. Apparently, he works full-time in the mine most of the time. Occasionally, he got assigned to work as a tour guide because of his passion for photography and videography. Today was one of those days. As we toured the place, he started to volunteer shooting and directing much of the footage in this video. His talent helped me to realize and appreciate how beautiful this place is. This may be one of those precious photo shoot locations that I would highly recommend for wedding photo shoots. It is incredibly photogenic. That is the reason I decided to make this video. I hope more people will get to see it if they ever come to visit Surabaya.
