Monster's Lullaby | Original Song by Cal Morris | LIVE

In November 2018 I, Cal, was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer. I wrote this song in the days following the news, and it felt very much like there was "a monster under my bed." Something I learned through that reality and those feelings was that you can't always run away or tune-out the "monsters." You can't just wake up and find out it's not there!

Sometimes you have to accept and make peace with a scary new beast. The idea of singing a monster to sleep, in a gentle and quiet way, was coming to my heart. Not resisting or fleeing, but holding this scary new thing and learning how to live with it still in the room.

It was a complete joy to play this with my twin brother, Daniel, who walked with me during this journey. One of the parts of life I'm most grateful to be here for is playing music with him.
