Still a little rough, the colours are not matching the maps and the spacing needs more work, and I dont have any coronas, lens flares or nebulae yet, but I finally managed to create a large physical star sector that relates to the 2D map.

The stars have been turned into collidable objects (hence the AABB and wireframes) so that I can pick them and display info for the player to make a selection that will then transition to a gameplay mode.

Colours and animations and some other effects need to be added to get a sense of the awe inspiring scale of the galaxy but that can be added later.
This was one of those "easy" jobs that turned out to be quite hard in fact, but I'm glad to have broken the back of it.. I'll keep tinkering to make it look amazing but functionally it will now allow me to move forward.
