Mohammed Dilawar speaks about the issue of declining amount of common bird species in India and around the world. He also shares a simple idea of crowdsourcing bird conservation, which led to a dramatic increase in common bird species in Nashik. Mohammed Dilawar is a name that has become synonymous with sparrow conservation, he has done some phenomenal work in the field of conservation. He started sparrow conservation 10 years ago while he was teaching in a college.

Starting out as a volunteer at the grassroots level conducting surveys and creating awareness about conservation. He joined the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) project in 2006, and started the project "Safeguarding Key IBA sites of India". He headed the Project "Decline of House Sparrows in the Urban Sub-Habitats of India" and worked on the report submitted to the MoEF on "Impacts of Cell Phone Towers on Wildlife and Bees".

He is presently working on the Common Bird Monitoring of India Program which will help in the monitoring 18 common bird species of India.
