NEWELL: Easter March, on Mason & Hamlin chapel organ

Описание к видео NEWELL: Easter March, on Mason & Hamlin chapel organ

Joseph Edward Newell (1843-c. 1936) was an English composer and hymn-writer. His 13 Vesper Voluntaries (“for the Organ, Harmonium, or American Organ”) were published in London in 1890, includinig this Easter March. Based on the popular “Easter Hymn” tune, it could serve as a festive postlude following the singing of the hymn. The instrument heard here is a 1915 chapel organ built by Mason & Hamlin: Style 93BF, No. 239146, # 4874 in the Reed Organ Society database. The black walnut cabinet contains five ranks of reeds throughout, plus a one-octave 16’ SubBase. Our friend Casey Pratt restored this instrument; see his website masonhamlinorgans.com. Performed by Michael Hendron; recorded 3 April 2021.
