This is my design process for making this cedar wood sign with 3D printed letters.

The Design:
I did my design work in Photoshop. The photoshop document was set to the real life size of the finished sign. It just makes things easier later on.
In Adobe Illustrator, I generated the DXF.
Then I opened the DXF to do the extrusion and shelling. I saved the STL and then sliced in CURA. Everything was printed on an Ender 3 V2.
I printed them out using a wood filament.

The Wood Sign:
I used Cedar wood for the actual sign
I wanted this to look like driftwood. So sketched out some organic edges and then cut it out on the scroll saw.
After cutting, To give the edges some more natural look, I did some power carving.

Finishing The Letters:
Back to the letters, I hit it with a base coat of black paint, which, in retrospect, was unnecessary. It was -30° outside when I was doing this, so the paint wasn't coming out perfectly. I know what I am doing though and knew it would turn out great. And it did!

I added an orange/red gradient to the letters.
I hit the wood with a stain to give it a more aged look.
I secured the letters onto the sign with epoxy.

I installed it in its new home and I think it looks amazing.
This build turned out really nice.
