Conventional Cut & Hinge Too Close To Tree Center Line Demonstration Creates Issues & Fiber Pulls

Back story is I did a convention cut from the back, the bar didn't get thru as the tree was bigger than I thought. Was scouting the situation as I was going to cut the other side from the back.... and it went.

Funny as I was trying to build a demonstration video on a "non critical" tree to demonstrate what happens when "Pine tree" type cuts, doesn't matter conventional or Humboldt face cuts, where there is a desire to move the hinge to the center of a tree is a problem for high value hard wood. They don't care out there about fiber pull! Almost EVERY beat the chest cut done west of the Mississippi has fiber pull. And this is to demonstrate the dynamics of that, didn't realize I would also catch the issues with "cut to the hinge" style as well. Miss gaged the diameter, thought I could cut all the way thru. FORTUNATELY a couple of things I do saved my bacon. First, I NEVER walk in front of a tree once I start the back cut. EVER. Second I am watching that tree like it's going to jump at me and bite me after starting a bac cut as well. AND as a result I wasn't in the hit zone. I have left enough hinge where I could thread the needle...and it did. But caught more than I planned.....
