Mahopac Falls Fire Department 19-7-2, Mount Kisco Fire Department Car 2283 and Utility 13 (F.A.S.T.), Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services Battalion 17, Buchanan Fire Department Car 2552, South Salem Fire Department Engine 167 and Car 2451, Putnam Valley Fire Department 24-1-2, and Westchester County Department of Emergency Services Field Communications Unit 1 and EMS 11 responding mutual aid to the Somers Fire Department for a 2nd alarm structure fire with possible entrapment on the West Hill of Heritage Hills in Somers, New York. A complete rundown of the units that responded is listed below. The Somers Fire Department was initially dispatched for a reported structure fire. Heritage Hills Security was first to arrive on scene and reported the unit to be fully involved with a woman and dog possibly trapped inside. Car 2441 arrived on scene and reported heavy fire showing and requested the 10-75 (working fire assignment). Immediately after, he requested the 2nd alarm, bringing in the majority of the mutual aid resources. Searches were initially attempted, but crews were eventually pulled out of the building due to the heavy fire conditions. 5 lines were stretched and operated, including a master stream. As the fire began to darken down, primary searches were once again initiated. The fire was placed under control after approximately two hours of operation, however units would remain on scene for several additional hours hitting hot spots and conducting an investigation. Unfortunately, one woman and her dog were found deceased inside the unit.
