Hello everyone! This is a non-narrated recording of the 5th (or 4th) Boss, Alexeri the Beastlord & Sir Dornel, in the brand new Scarlet Enclave raid added in Phase 8 of the World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery, from an Arcane Healing Mage point of view. This was recorded on the second week of the new raid release.
I had heard that this boss was quite difficult, but we actually got it down a lot quicker than any other boss before this. It is definitely a heal-check, but it is also a fight where Healing Mage really excels. I definitely did not perform incredibly well here, but really enjoyed the damage pattern of the fight and the fight in general.
Periodically the boss and his bear companion will apply a stacking DoT to the 5 closest players, and at 3+ stacks this will almost certainly be lethal, at least with current gear. The trick is to just do a tank / boss swap (similar to the twin drakes, Ebonrock & Flamegor, in Blackwing Lair) at 2 stacks, and then just watch out for the fire traps or red / green circles under your feet. We were actually mostly able to skip the "watch your feet" mechanic by tanking the bosses close to a fence as the mechanic would 'stop' and not go through it, although they may change this as they have also already changed the "fence" and "stump" strats. If you have 2 full melee groups you can assign 1 to each boss / side and they should take all the stacks, and if one (or more) of them does go down, you can just have a ranged player be closer than anyone from the other group / side to take the stack and rotate them in / out with another ranged player as needed.
Beyond that, and periodically watching your feet so that you don't get 1 shot, it really is just a straight healing fight. Healing Mage does incredibly well here due to our ability to maintain Beacons on 2 groups at all times with the Soul of the Eternal Caretaker Shoulder Enchant and the T1 2-pieces bonus, as long as you cast Mass Regeneration off-cooldown every time. That allows us to just pump DPS with Arcane spells outside of that 1 GCD every 12 seconds for maximum HPS. If melee do go down, you can also toss a single Regeneration at whichever ranged player is filling. I definitely could have done a better job of that, and done a better job with my rotation in general to provide much more throughput, but all in all I had a blast healing this fight.
