In July of 2017, an anime expo was held where Studio Trigger would make a special appearance at a panel. There we got the official announcement of a brand new anime called “Darling in the Franxx,” which would be an adaptation from the manga by the same name.

With the announcement, people were insanely excited for what’s to come. The overall look of the show helped spread its influence to others worldwide, along with a rapid fanbase growing after the reveal. And in January of 2018, it officially released and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. People praised its use of world-building, character relationships, dynamics, and many more. It was a smash hit with anime and non-anime fans alike. But after the show concluded, viewers were overall mixed. Half loved the emotional impact and engaging characters, while some criticized the ending for feeling too “rushed” or “out of nowhere.” Either way, the show is one to remember for years to come.

And today, I will analyze and go into depth about why I think this show is an absolute masterpiece.
