The most spectacular of the numerous structures built by Sultan Suleiman, the most successful ruler of the Ottoman Empire, is the Suleymaniye Mosque. The mosque, designed by Sinan, the best architect of the time, is still a major tourist attraction in Istanbul. The excellent construction style with eye-catching interior design still catches the eye. Right next to the mosque are the tombs of Suleiman and his children. In addition to praying, many tourists also come to see the tomb of Hurram Sultan, the wife of Suleiman and one of the most powerful women of the Ottoman regime.
