Prior to starting her café, Shruthi spent two years in the gorgeous town of Auroville doing bamboo workshops, mudhouses, learning pottery etc. and hence makes it a point to use only eco-friendly and recycled materials in her café. During her journey of exploration, she met 32 women from a village who came from alchohol abused backgrounds. These women were making beautiful products out of newspaper and selling but were not getting the price they deserved. She also came across young girls who were either orphaned or came from alcohol abused backgrounds. She embarked on a mission to help these women sell the products and empower the girls as well by training them in English language. In order to help them out she went ahead with her plans to start a cafe focusing on the local flavors, as she thought that the best way to attract people would be through food. She garnishes a hope that this venture of hers will open up more opportunities to women like these. Be the change you wish to see in the world!!!
