Time for a Fresh Start! How to replace the DeLorean DMC-12's starter motor

In this video we walk you through the process of replacing the DeLorean's starter motor.

The starter motor in VIN 16109 started to "freespin" intermittently on start up a year ago. It was a pretty rare occurrence. However recently it was becoming regular, especially after driving the car and parking it for a little while, then starting it up again. Not to be overlooked, we contacted Chris Miles who suggested replacing the original 40+ year old Paris-Rhone unit with a new rebuilt unit for an Eagle Premier. These are carried by Autozone and come with a lifetime warranty.

According to F:02:01 of the Workshop Manual, the torque spec for the Starter motor to clutch housing is 19 FT-LB (27 N-m). Torque value of the electrical connection to the stud is 5-10 FT-LB (7-13 N-m) (see M:02:04 and M:06:02)
