A public meeting was held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at 6 p.m. to engage members of the Bel Air community regarding the Tripps Run at Barrett Road Flood Mitigation Project. Staff from Fairfax County’s Stormwater Planning Division first provided background of the factors causing flooding issues within the community, and discussed a study conducted in 2020, which examined different approaches to mitigating the flooding. Staff then presented the 35% design plans, discussing items such as the current limits of construction, removal of the Holloway Road bridge and excavation of the floodplain bench, and proposed construction access locations. Staff also described the next steps as the project moves forward in design.
