今回は、パシフィック・パリセーズにある
Riviera Country Clubで開催された
Genesis Invitational 最終日を観戦してきました。
この日はトーナメント観戦だけでなく、
ご縁があり、オーナーご家族の案内で
クラブハウス内部や
通常は立ち入れないエリアにも入ることができました。
歴史あるクラブの空気を、
間近で感じられる貴重な体験でした。
コースでは、
松山英樹選手をかなり近い距離で観ることができ、
さらに、今大会で優勝した
J. Bridgeman選手も1ホール目から観戦。
最終日ならではの緊張感と、
トッププロの迫力を存分に味わえました。
Riviera Country Clubは1926年開場。
ロサンゼルスを代表する名門プライベートクラブで、
長年にわたりPGAツアーの舞台となってきました。
「Hogan’s Alley」とも呼ばれ、
ゴルフ史に名を残す数々の名勝負が生まれています。
現在のオーナーは、
日本出身の実業家・渡辺昇（Noboru Watanabe）氏。
1980年代後半にクラブを取得して以降、
伝統を守りながらも
世界トップクラスのコースとして
その価値をさらに高めてきました。
日本人オーナーが支える
ロサンゼルス屈指の名門クラブという点も、
非常に興味深いポイントです。
またリビエラは、
ゴルフだけでなく社交の場としても知られ、
著名人のプライベートイベントや
結婚式の会場として使われてきたことでも有名です。
華やかさと格式を併せ持つ、
特別な場所だと感じました。

I’m sharing the daily life of a midlife guy living in Los Angeles, California.
Today, I attended the final round of the
Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club
in Pacific Palisades.
In addition to watching the tournament,
I had a rare opportunity to tour inside the clubhouse
and access areas normally closed to the public,
thanks to a personal introduction from the owner’s family.
It was a special chance to experience
the atmosphere of this historic club up close.
On the course,
I was able to see Hideki Matsuyama play from a very close distance,
and I also followed the eventual winner,
J. Bridgeman, starting from the first hole.
Watching the final day live really highlights
the intensity and precision of top‑level professional golf.
Riviera Country Club opened in 1926
and is one of the most iconic private clubs in Los Angeles.
Often referred to as “Hogan’s Alley,”
the course has hosted legendary moments
throughout golf history
and remains a key venue on the PGA Tour.
The club is currently owned by
Japanese businessman Noboru Watanabe,
who acquired Riviera in the late 1980s.
Under his ownership,
the club has preserved its traditions
while continuing to elevate its global reputation.
The fact that one of America’s most prestigious clubs
is owned by a Japanese entrepreneur
adds a unique cultural dimension to Riviera’s story.
Beyond golf,
Riviera is also known as a venue for
high‑profile private events and weddings,
reflecting its status as a place
where elegance, history, and exclusivity come together.
