Some of my viewers already seen the Book of Genesis, which I discuss here in an extended interview (   • Reading Genesis Again--for the First ...  ), in terms of methods and presuppositions that go into this new translation.

From the Geneva Bible (1560 CE) through the King James (1611 CE), to the latest "Revised" New Revised Standard, traditional Christian English translations build upon one another and are quite familiar but often reflect theological vocabulary and ideas quite foreign to the Hebrew texts. Fox, Alter, Friedman, and a host of Jewish translators have made worthy attempts to offer fresh translations, including the latest Jewish Publication Society version.

This evaluation by Arthur Droge, captures the essence of what I intend for the Transparent English Bible:
