To mark the 50th anniversary of Louis Armstrong’s passing in July 1971, Bristol Blues & Jazz Film Festival present a special event to celebrate his legacy and onscreen presence from the late ‘50s to the late 60s.

Louis Daniel Armstrong, aka "Satchmo", "Satch", and "Pops", was undoubtedly one the most influential figures in jazz, an American trumpeter and vocalist with a career that spanned five decades and different eras in the history of jazz, who is perhaps less known for his onscreen work, some of which you will be able to experience back on the big screen at Cinema Rediscovered.

Join Ricky Riccardi, Director of Research Collections for the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Queens, New York, also author of Heart Full of Rhythm and What a Wonderful World: The Magic of Louis Armstrong's Later Years for an online discussion on Louis Armstrong's film presence and find out more about his experience of the film business.
