Georgia With Bunnik Tours

Heard about Georgia (the country, not the state!), and want to know more about this marvellous place? Then check out this video! Join Dennis Bunnik, Bunnik Tours’ Joint-CEO, as he uncovers the hidden gem of a nation that is Georgia.

Considered a transcontinental country, Georgia is situated in the intersection between eastern Europe and western Asia; however, typically it’s considered a part of Europe. The country’s official language is Georgian, and the small nation has a population of only 3.7 million. Boasting one of the most unique cultures in the world, Georgia is an up-and-coming tourist destination – and its warm locals also make this country a delightful place for visitors to explore.

Watch as Dennis explores the authentic culture and ancient traditions. Starting in Telavi, surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains, they begin the journey through Georgia by exploring a winery in the region wine was created 8,000 years ago. You’ll follow along as Dennis and the group visit several more wineries, tasting a range of different drops. They also visit a local family for a cooking class of dishes from the Kakheti region – a really wholesome experience that immersed our travellers into the Georgian culture.

After uncovering the gorgeous Kakheti, Dennis and our group make their way to the capital city of Tbilisi. Georgia’s capital city is so unique that according to Dennis, ‘it quickly became one of his favourite cities anywhere in the world’ due to its great vibe. The sightseeing in the city not only took them to the famous sights, such as Metekhi Church and the Georgian Synagogue, but it also took them to discover all of the lesser known, hidden quirks of the city.

From Tbilisi, the journey took them north to the small valley town of Kazbegi. It’s said to be Europe’s 16th oldest city with people thought to have occupied the area from as early as 17th century BC. Here they uncover one of Georgia’s most iconic sights, Gergeti Trinity Church situated on the Chkheri riverbank. Dennis and the group also explore the impressive Vardzia cave monastery, founded in the 12th century.

Thanks for tuning into our second instalment of Dennis’ experience in escorting our 22 day Georgia, Armenia & Azerbaijan small group tour. In his words, ‘it’s truly as gorgeous as it looks!’ So, get ready for the last video of Armenia, it’ll be released shortly!
