If there’s one market that spells Goa, it’s Mapusa. This colorful market is open every day but it is in full swing on Fridays. The market becomes alive with the aroma of fresh spices as vendors from all over Goa flock here to sell their products. Mapusa market is right next to the Mapusa bus stand and is well connected to all other villages and cities in Goa.

You will get everything in this market from locally grown fresh fruits to pottery to sausages. The market is especially known for spices, marinated pork sausages, strings of Goan home-made chouriço, cashew nut shops and of course fenny stores. Seedless tamarind, pickles, vegetables, coir mats and ropes are also sold here. You can buy Goan sweets like Chana Doce and Dodola, cakes, clothes, jewelry, fresh flowers and home-made wines. The stores are grouped according to the type of product it is selling.

There is a fish market that sells fresh catch as well as dried fish. There are also small stalls selling antiques and souvenirs.
