Ferro Rod Igniting Pine Resin Ooze And Hidden Gall Fatwood

Описание к видео Ferro Rod Igniting Pine Resin Ooze And Hidden Gall Fatwood

Pine Resin is not always the highly flammable and easy to ignite fire starter that we think it is. It all depends on how much moisture is in it. Conversely, the low moisture and highly concentrated pine resin that we call fatwood is always a great fire starter. The usual places to find fatwood is in the root ball or the branch to trunk junctions of a dead Pine Tree. A lesser known place to find fatwood, hidden fatwood, is in Pine Tree galls. Galls are tumor like growths that form along the stems and branches of Pine trees. They are woody, round, oblong and/or irregularly shaped. Galls start off pea size, but can grow to the size of a grapefruit on the branches. On the main stems, galls can grow up to 2-1/2' across.
